The Gift of Dawnings

It happens every day!  It slips into our lives and offers us so many gifts.  Many days we sleep through it.   Other days it happens without our even noticing.  Some days we shrug it off.  But on the occasional day that we see it, it brings our world to a standstill.  Dawnings are genuine gifts. They bring a bounty of blessings for those with the eyes to see.

Dawnings grant us a moment of anticipation of life whether good or ill.  Anticipation sweetens desires and prepares us to face difficulties.  It allows the heart and mind to enjoy the coming day freed from the cold, hard burden of reality.  Anticipation allows the soul to soar while leaving reality on the ground.  Dawnings offer us the gift of seeing our day from the edge of infinite possibilities.

Dawnings provide us with an awakening.  It gives us a wondrous moment between “not being” and “same old, same old.”  When we gaze upon the dawning. we are caught in that wondrously numinous moment when life genuinely feels like a gift, a sacred present.  It offers an awakening of the spirit before the internal chatter begins to clutter our consciousness.  There is no wanting or hurting or disappointment.  This fleeting moment fills our life with all that we need.  In that moment of dawning we are fully and completely alive!

Dawnings offer us a very real hope of a new day.  It dissipates the darkness of yesterday by offering us the light of a new day.  It clears away the residues of nightmares and a life gone awry with the new light of the dawn.  It reminds us that yesterday offers a choice.  We can either allow the lessons of yesterday to become wisdom or bitterness.  And in the light of this dawning and the hope it offers, wisdom is a very real possibility

Dawnings are gifts.  They are made without price or expectation.   They lavish their bounty upon us regardless of what we have done or will do.  They flow out of the abundance of another whose only desire is to share our joy.  They wrap us in a moment of absolute grace.  We can neither purchase nor repay anyone for this gift.  It will come again and again regardless of what we do or how we receive it.  Such gifts remind us that we are of value not because of who we are or what we have done.  We matter because we are here, basking in the light of the dawning of a new day.

Unwrap your gift every day!  Whether you are asleep or awake, paying attention or distracted, this gift will come in the glorious shades of blues, yellows, oranges, and reds on the horizon of your life.  It will come regardless of who you are or what you have done.  It is yours to enjoy just because you are alive!  Enjoy the anticipation it offers.  Savor the awakening.  Lean into the hope.  Allow yourself to be immersed in it and walk into your new day filled with the joy of life itself.

Blessings,

Bob
